Another way to remove the distractions and illusions of the everyday world is by paying close attention to your entire body one piece at a time and then holistically.

Start by standing up and thinking about how your feet are connected to the ground. Bend your knees a little and sit your butt down so your body feels like a spring that can give and receive energy without breaking.

After you have spent time feeling how each toe can grip the earth while your heels and the balls of you feet also keep you firmly grounded, think your way up through all your legs, torso, arms, shoulder and neck until you get to the top of your head.

From the crest of your head there is a point that is the top of your center of gravity. Imagine a string pulling you up to the heavens from there, and then imagine yourself radiating energy upwards from the strong connection to earth, through your body, and out the top of your being to spread the earth's energy into the universe.

Then calm down again. Open your arms to gather in the energy around you. Imagine your out-reached arms are being handed a giant, weightless beach ball. Hold the ball in your embrace and connect it to your breathing. As you inhale the ball grows, as you exhale the ball diminishes. Breath slower and slower; thinking only of your breaths. Slower still until all is quiet and calm.

Open your eyes refreshed now, realizing again that you have control over your body and its position in the universe.
