What makes you you?
Do you do what you do out of habit? Are you pre-destined or do you have free will?
If there's a chance of having free will, there needs to be a self that reflects and mindfully responds before taking action.
That intention to slow down and move forward with careful deliberation is very powerful in defining your being.
Simply deciding to take a course of action is good for the soul. Whether it be a new exercise regime, a low-sugar diet, or a personal goal to try to think about successes at the end of the day. Habits which all have shown correlations to happiness.
Simply intending to start a practice has produced noticeable beneficial impacts to study participant accomplishment.
Just saying I will be mindful can make you more mindful.
