Having tea starts by putting the kettle on.
Even the words, "just let me put the kettle on" can have a calming effect
as they prepare us to spend a peaceful moment of reflection away from a chaotic world.
Once the heat has been applied to the water lay out the leaves and the cups for each person present;
let each place as many leaves as they like into their cup; use clear glass cups to more easily observe the unfurling.
When the water roars to a boil then let it cool down to the correct temperature for your tea... the greener, the cooler;
then pour into all the cups filling your own teacup last.
As a group it can be powerful if nothing is said while all quietly watch as the leaves in their cup open up and let loose their inner essence;
a rolled up oolong tea or a flowery brocade are both things of beauty to behold in this way.
